We’ve been off for a couple of weeks with no solid excuse but… Ladies and gentleman, we’re back!
This week, we’ll focus on main title design for tv shows. Titles usually are the viewer’s introduction to the piece of content, they have to get them in the mood and prepare them for what’s to come. And the challenge with tv show titles is that, unlike movies, viewers usually have to watch them tens of times.
We’ll start with one of the best. True Detective’s title sequence is not only a classic but started the whole double exposure trend. Nowadays almost half of designer portfolios have a double exposure project in it (seriously though, enough double exposure) but none we’ve seen have managed to be better than the titles that started it all.

Sometimes the title sequence has to prepare you for something absurd and nothing is more absurd than the internet. Pentagram
In the main title field, Imaginary Forces (the studio behind the title) are a force to be reckoned with. This here is one of my favorite projects from them.
This is one which I almost always never skip. It’s raw, gritty and hits all the right marks.
The Simpsons is over 500 episodes strong now but they always seem to find a way to mix up their titles so that it remains interesting.
